Salon du Troll/Vortex Room hosts MIss O's Female FRont 2010 SF

The Vortex room is a sort of home away from home for me. Since 2006 I do a few shows a year there with my very lovely pirate in crime Dog Swan.
I had taken a year long hiatus from the bay area due to all my New Orleans traveling, n dolly stitching.
Yet as always my homesick ache for the bay creeps in and I need my fix!
This was my fourth show for Female Front 2010. I promised SailorHank an opening spot,he practiced for a month solid, costume shopped and most def got his drag on as you see here...

he was so graciously followed by Hollywood/Paris superstar Veronique with Transylvania vamping n rhymes cabaret .
Mary st Meri read song poetry which i accidentally missed as I was aiding SailorHAnk with a costume change to accompany Dame Darcy's sea-shanty set...I played a slide-show of images i have captured in the last 6 or 7 years between sets..Alot of pals showed up for this night and it was great to see all of you!

We were also lucky enough to have one of my fave SF dj legends Neel Boyett spin some funky, soulful 70's sounds along with my long-time mate DJ Joan MArrow with her dark wave.no-wave ambiance...

Lady E graced us with angelic raspy escapades

DAme DArcy was up in her most breathtaking 1920's Mermaid attire......my heart swooned and i had to refrain from blushing! I love her shanties...

I was very very very honored to include an installation of art for the Vortex room by one of my female photo heroes Ruby RAy..she really empowered my youthful eye candy with my yearning to have been a bit older in 1977 to experience the west coast art and punk movement..she did a fine job of capturing all of it and now displays psychedelic collages with lens twirls and hidden messages....

Dog Swan and Ronni Guitar wrapped up the entertainment with hot rod, goo-roo, matching facade....oh what a finale'.....

BUT the night was NOT over, a night is not a night without a pile up in one of Dogs rev~ving beauties of metal from the 1960's..an early breakfast followed by cruising the empty streets of the city , chilled-joy, laps overlapped and friends....nothing quite like it......I heart u all........

Alabaster Choad,Nightphone, death by doll,Moira Scar,American Splits at Female Front in Oakalnd

On my sixth show for Female Front tour which was co-produced(jack shit) in West Oakland at First Church of Buzzard

Jack Shit and i decided to start having some drinks and relax, soon enough the bands began to arrive..Nightphone started our female front and they took me back to 1993, ..Alese the singer is darling!

Following Nightphone was American Splits...they kicked our behinds ...got us shakin & our voyeurism in gear with the talented members...including front woman Georgia Rat playing her guitar with a butter-knife.

**********************************************************************************

As the sun set Alabaster Choad set up their equipment, a trumpet/drums/stand up bass w/male+female singers, they took us through the tunnels of "89 angst" with sounds that were teasing, muddy, deep n'dark with an awakening all in one!!! and the champagne started to intoxicate my state of mind....While Alabaster Choad put me in a dream state!Cloud 9 with a twist....
Through their set i felt my aura have an orgasm,
like an old tent revival everyone in this space felt the spirit of choad through their membranes. It is a rare occasion: but does happen when an entire room is overcome with the magic of a performance, this in my personal opinion was one of those. A rare intimate moment shared with a few dozen participants...

**********************************************************************************
if this wasn't enough for the coven then ..Moira Scar was to follow....
Lulu n Roxy are what I call my Barbary angels...this duo has magic, spells, hexs, juju, hoodoo, goddess charisma....This newest band they have formed involves handmade ,vintage fabric, mache' masks and mystical couture...there is nothing, nobody or anything as special as Roxy n Lulu.....

the grand finale' was Death By Doll my darling witchy-dolly friend + mentor Dame Darcy's music- box, dark wave band with Vincent d.Dominion....This seemed like a dream: each band fulfilling my Female Front vision, even if it was blurred by the end of this evening...I want to thank each of them for doing what they do!and Kent for hosting us...

Agatha : the newest member of our family

I adopted Agatha today from our local Goodwill!
My heart stopped when i found her, she is filled with a secret or two! This crafty lil witch is made of pages from a book folded in half,
she also likes to get into trouble ( i can see it in her eyes_! she is our new family patron!
stop by and meet her...
She reminds me of the 1920-40's 'Ol Time HAlloween collection that I used to dig through the bins for, cause there is no way I can afford to purchase items from that Halloween era on ebay!!!!

Miss Oblivious officially coin'd "Seahag on the Prairie" as a fashion statement

I am continuously asked for the last 15 years what I call "my look", I've been asked by fashionistas', queens, civilians and hipsters.

The other night while sipping lemon drops at PONY with my date Tracy Cilona, I was asked yet again by the darling Cookie "what'd you call your look"?

I normally respond with seahag, victorian tramp parading through hollywood in 1977 with dustbowl glamour look....But i felt that was just to long of a response and then it dawn'd on me my fashion title is officially......

"SEAHAG ON THE PRAIRIE"

I never really thought much about it til recent, there was a feature on me about my dollsand the editor explained my unique look and that my dolls resemble me, + i was strumming through pics of myself over the last 15 years and i am in consistent in only one thing, i have kept my way of dress through children and nearing into my 40's....

My wardrobe consist primarily of:
APRON is a must, tights with runs in em, knee high pantyhose with designs, vintage slips with stitches, sock garters, spats, polka dots, ripped up sweaters, lots of blue n red with white for my nautical ancestry, vintage vanity fair leopard print gowns, tee-shirt logos cut out of shirt and sloppily sewn onto garments, old dresses, lace bunched up in hair as dec'r, 1980 barrettes in a contrasting color, vintage granny shoes, black with floral print from the 40's, patchouli and lavender, handmade buttons of my friends and art, messy unwashed hair, the palest shade of studio fix, ruby woo lips, pencil'd eyebrows is a must!

My mother and I in 1977

THis is my mother and I shortly after she left my father, we had hitchhiked from Ventura Calif to Morgan Hill,Ca which is were we stopped to visit my grandparents and never left. We originally were headed for Alaska.

My mom's nickname by all her close friends was "Witchy" which I spoke of in the blog below with Courtney. I wanted to post this picture so you could see what I was speaking of.

My mother still does her mascara this thick, I have no idea really how she gets it so thick, but its her thing. The dress she is wearing in this picture was beautiful , white floor length princess cut vintage....my mother is 5'11 and she always wore the highest clog wedges with brown leather, and maybe butterfly etched in, which made her 6 feet.

It wasn't til I was 14 that it was revealed to me that grandfather practiced withcraft and wiccan traditions which i don't think most of my family even knows to this day, his secret library and stash of tools were found by my mother after he had passed away.

HE was also an astounding photographer and addict of capturing every moment on film either by static or stills, i have pictures he took at a village in South Africa...another trait i picked up ....also I just acquired every letter he wrote to my grandmother while abroad and traveling from 1930-1970's, I had no idea he to loved New Orleans and spent alot of time there as well! His family actually arrived in NOLA from Ireland in 1790. Not a good time to be in NOLA as an Irishman i can imagine.
Here is a photo of my grandfather...
