Lee Kyle has beautiful innards and visions

-I just framed all of Lee Kyles block art/watercolor and postcards to display in my living room, "who needs a TV when you have art like this"-

I met Lee Kyle in May 2010 at Fair Grinds coffee, he has become a good friend! He has welcomed me into his home ,made me beautiful meals,we've traveled together, both been kissed by Holly Woodlawn, done a handful of art shows together and he really inspires me immensely!

In more ways than one, his sobriety is very inspiring! Though I drink a 3rd of what I did 10 years ago, I still do drink, but he has stayed sober for 2 years. His art is brilliant, seedy and unique just like him!
In the last year and a half or so I have received a postcard nearly every month I always look forward to receiving these gorgeous messages with his artwork on one side and his kind thoughts on the other!

I imagine gardening, doll-making and road trips in our future~

Do you know what its like?

Wednesday September 28th, 2011 I embarked on my ninth trip in three years to New Orleans.
I wonder as I step onto the plane each time what this city will reveal to me. Each day spent in the Crescent City fuels my passion for its crooked houses, humid air and late night living.

This year would also be the second annual "Carnival of Saints and Souls doll Show".

Also I had a co-pilot J9 Fierce(plus her dance troupe TRIPTYCH).
It would be J9's first visit and I was anxious to show her a handful of what this city has to offer (14 bars the first night)!
I imagine it will take a lifetime to discover NOLA in its entirety
(if thats possible).

My best friend in the whole wide world has unveiled the cities teasing luxury -both seedy and classy to me on each adventurous visit. She has resided here since 1995 and is a seasoned character.

Another 'ol pal and psychedelic family member/Queen Bitch settled in the summer of 2010 from California.

Some of my soul-mates for the last 15-20 years.
Plus the many enduring spirits that I have bonded with :within my last three years worth of visits....

The Mudlark gals stole my heart and are guarding it inside their palace.

My dolly sisters and I stumbled down the sunny Vieux Carrie...shopping , eating and bonding!
Each visit consists of encounters with new friends that are "pure darlings" and hospitable. Like only the southern pride themselves in.
My heart aches, it longs to awake every morning next to the smoke filled bar rooms, dueling oaks, swamps and a Triangle in the Marigny.

I hold my breath and make that wish on a daily basis!

I thought I had beat the tears, yet 2 hours prior to take-off as I stepped out onto St.Anne at Chartres I touched the wrought iron, smelled the beignet's,heard the horns of vagabonds -the salty water streamed down my cheek for I knew it was time to part:
as if it were the best lover I had leave.....til next time my passionate, romantic, dark, wicked, breathtaking city...xoxoxo

the epic dreams of GUM dolls in New Orleans May 6th at Deity

"Juicy Fruit"

I had a continuous dream the week of February 14,2011. It entailed century old secrets from William Wrigley Jr. founder of the infamous gum corporation.

The dreams lasted for three nights, each one in hearty detail of how Mr.Wrigley titled his empire of chewing gum names.

Juicy Fruit

Double Mint

Big Red

The first night featured his treasure "Juicy Fruit", he informed me that he spent every October in the french quarter and fell head over heels for "Juicy Fruit", she worked in a tea house with the others....Juicy Fruit is what her late night patrons called her,the den was tucked away in a basement around 732 Toulouse .next to the French Opera House.

William and Juicy Fruit had a deep love for one another, yet she had refused to live in Chicago, so they were never able to spend more than a few weeks together. She always told him "I was born here, I'll die here" speaking of the French Quarter, supposedly the farthest she had ever ventured was City Park at the end of the dueling oaks. Juicy Fruit also was in charge at the Tea-House which a very generous lover had given her when he passed away in 1892. Her sister Abbie Reed was furious and they never spoke again.Abbie was told by this lover on Basin street she would inherit the property, yet the paperwork claimed Juicy Fruit as the inheritor of such said property at 732.

Though he was spiritually forced to move on, the "Double-mint Twins" (or the DM Twins)caught his fancy next, those two (Siamese twins) could party for days on end, their hair was always an emerald green which they claimed was from their secret color enhancements found in moss only available in the Louisiana Swamps. The two were always sipping on mint julep's which gave their breath a minty essence, plus they were always in minty colored attire and giggled through any conversation.

Big Red was an infatuation for Mr.Wrigley they would chat for hours and have one Pimms Cup after another. She had claimed to help him with the key elements for his everlasting flavor ingredient in the GUM recipe. She always wore Red and White, to match the interior of the great elliptical auditorium in the French Opera House next door, which she was lucky, one of her admirers "Humphrey" would take Big Red to every opening night and purchase her a new blood red velvet gown adorned with pearls.

Big Red was born a hermaphrodite, her parents were European gypsy's and felt like she was thee golden child. They had come to New Orleans when Big Red was 14, they were both taken by yellow fever in 1905.Big Red was never the same after that.

over-acheivers,go-getters and heartaches

foto by Lammy Dammy
Here we are friends, the end of one of the greatest years 2010. I have been overly productive, I spent 30 days total in New Orleans this year, five weeks in California and the rest in the NW.
I vow to spend more time in Portland this year and to visit some new p[laces, maybe Tennessee/Austin/Rome and Berlin those are my visionary vacations that I'd like to bring the dollies to, and show em off they do love to travel...
I produced about twenty five shows this year and will plan on doing half as many in 2011, my soul can't be spread so thin.
EVERYDAY i DREAM OF WAKING UP IN NEW ORLEANS, WALKING IN THE QUARTER HAVING LATE-NITES HOPPING FROM ONE DECREPIT DRINKING HOLE TO ANOTHER.
For now I am happily nestled in the NW. I have fallen in love again with SF, the warm sun on my body felt divine last week, driving over the bay bridge in the morning with Jayne County blaring from the Speakers...priceless..
My soul is torn...I may have three lovers now!!!just what i needed!!!!NOLA,SEATTLEI know i need to bring in a higher income this year to survive and to get me to where i need to be!
i will start my grant writing skills so i can create installations and performances and not rely on buyers and voyeurs so much,I have deleted my website, and have decided to be a lil less in the public eye, i feel that there are vultures out there trying to poke and peck at my eyes and heart, giving to much takes away from my creativity, as I learned the hard way in 2008, yet i am filled with the love and inspiration from others, finding the balance is the true trick.

New Orleans May 2009

Here I am writing about the trip that changed many things and switched my era as to speak of.
I have been very busy ,yet very numb!
I am not depressed, I am not happy, I am not sad, I am not overwhelmed..I just am! Well for the passed 12 monthes.

So Many great occurances grace themselves in my presence and I am very fortunate to have wonderful and talented peers, friends and family!
Okay it is September and it has taken only another planned trip to the cresent city to push out a narrative of my late spring adventures!
This trip was caused from my very best friend for 23 years tying the knot@!She found herself a keeper! He is sweet, intelligant and fun!
My highschool pal KUBO and I decided to share a room over at the Ritz affliliated suites!
Karen and Kimmy swooped me from the barley humid airport! Mexican food and girly alcoholic beverages! Many laughs and thoughts were shared between the three of us, heck it had been over ten years since the three of us had been together! The last time was my surprise attack in '98.

We devoured our meal and overindulged in our trampy n sweet drinks!
It was time to now pick KUBO up from her city of angels flight!~

Next would be the drive-thru dacqueri shack! Yes these joints are like Taco Bells and McDonalds, except they only serve slurpy type alcoholic mixes with such names as Swamp Juice,Gator Brew..well you get the idea!
After the first night we didn't se much of Karen as she was preparing her decadent wedding and out-of-town family members!

So Kubo and I strolled through the divine streets of the french quarter, garden district haunted tours,

25 cent cosmos at The Commanders Palace,Cemetary strolls(of course)Miss O loves Cemetaries and thinks they are so romantic! If anyone was ever trying to win me over a picnic, bottle of bubbly wine and an enchanted over grown cemetary would do the trick! I'd be yours forever!

late night stomps through one eyed jacks and boozy streets!(P.S do not ever.. ever.. ever walk down Bourbon street! Especially if it is hot out! Vomit and horse droppings do not mix well)We walked about 14 miles total!(She has a spedometer on her phone)

The next day would be rehersal dinner and time to aqcuainted with the grooms Argentinan pals! Pasta our 'ol pal since high school, AJ and Rudy plus Cal and Pat Ford really were the hits of the party!

Then that Bayou sun was set and the moon brought out the 80's hits, woman dancing around the pool and boys in the pool!

This was when I felt the bride and the grooms life long friends bonded! We swam and drank til the morning was near!

Kubo and I laid in our fluffy, comfy bed and called it quits!~
The next morning was girl time at the salon and the day of official "I do's"
In true Karen Ford fashion she had a mason jar filled to the brim of some alocoholic potions and we sipped these mixes while hands and feet were primped!

Next was the brides make-up in which I was in control of applying! And AJ did a beautiful updo on the bride! She was stunning! The limo arrived and we all hopped in with much more champagne and I held back my tears!
I was so overwhelmed and pleased that my very best friend had found such a great, thoughtful and caring fella to spend her life with!

The church had very beautiful and dark iconic statues!

Quintron played the organ with such class and the scene was set! KAREN FORD & SEBASTIAN were tying the knot!

It was very traditional yet I enjoyed every second of it! This was real, this was gorgeous!

After vows were exchanged it was time for The Bayou house!

Quintron was kind enough to give Kubo,Kitty Lynn and Myself a ride in his limo to this historical event!

The food was divine ,

the bar was open and hospitality was in full throttle!

A man named Michael(full of charm) photographed me and gave Kubo lessons of traditional southern manners and they danced on the greenest grass!

The Steamboat boys were very entertaining!

I met an amazing man named Michael.D and he is someone I can talk to forever, he is a historical genius and very talented!

I danced with the ladies and Kevin Ford was swinging all through the lovely set of the sounds. Bonnie and Chris,Pat and Cal, and everyone else was strolling through this southern night of pure decadence!

The pool was once again utilized! Mayhem and bliss and heavenly unforgotten times were had! This was the best wedding I had ever attended!

Cucumber and mint filled the air! In the very late night(early morning) after Kubo and I had strolled down Esplanade and chatted for an additional hour at karens Home we finally closed our eyes and agreed we had a wonderous evening!

The morning after clothing items were discovered, pictures were proof and fuzzy memories were all we had left to get us through the warm spring day before I boarded a plane back to the North West!
